About Us

Founded in 2001 by Wes Harvey and his son Billy, Runnin’ W Wildlife Center is a 2-acre private animal sanctuary located in the Verde Valley just south of Sedona, Arizona. We are home to over 400 wild and exotic animals comprising over 125 different species. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are devoted to providing a place of refuge, healing and safety for animals in need. Our sanctuary is supported by the generous donations of individuals and sponsors.

We are since March 2022 a lead party in a NEPA proceedings case at the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to stop AT&T and their developer Tilson Technology Management from building a macro cellular tower across the street from us. Tilson’s proposed placement is non compliant with 7 of 9 NEPA (National Environment Policy Act of 1969) screening criterion, including biological impacts on wildlife and wetland habitat.

Ways to Help

Runnin’ W provides permanent homes for exotic animals and non-releasable native wildlife. It is supported exclusively by sponsorships, memberships, bequests, grants and private donations. Your tax-deductible contribution is crucial, as it insures that the special care we provide to over 400 animals, represented in over 40 species, will continue.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.
